M.A Parikh Fine Arts and Arts College
The Manish Ashokbhai Parikh Fine Arts & Arts college is the premier college in the North Gujarat region and is known for its high standards in teaching and research and attracts eminent scholars to it. It was established in 2007 as a unitary, teaching Humanities, Performing Arts & Visual Arts.
The M.A.Parikh Fine Arts & Arts College governed by The Banaskantha District Kelawani Mandal, is affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. With the aid of an endowment fund from The Banaskantha District Kelawani Mandal. The college is situated at the G.D.Modi College Campus opp. S.T. Workshop, Highway Palanpur.
The College is an Institution established in 2007 for advanced training in Performing Arts & Visual Art, leading to the Full Time Bachelor Degree Programs of Performing Art & Visual Art of Three & Four years duration respectively in the disciplines of Music, Drama & Painting, along with the Three years Degree Programs in Humanities in the disciplines of English Literature, Psychology, & Gujarati with the subsidiary subjects Political Science, Hindi, & Sanskrit.
The college has the faculties with state & national repute. And a selected group of visiting faculties who enrich the teaching programs with their expertise, thus providing the students with the opportunity of discussion and interaction with eminent and contemporary resource personalities, performers & artists.
Performing & Visual Art being foremost, a practical art, special attention and continuous stress is laid on achieving excellence in performance, & exhibition not only amongst the students, but also upon the teachers as well. In order to orient them with the fine art and nuances of performance, the Faculty organizes various concerts, painting exhibitions & drama shows from time to time, where teachers and students alike are given a platform to display the richness of their talent in the league and company of state & national-level artistes, who are invited to these events. Few of the prime concerts organized every year is “MEGH MALHAR” which celebrates the spirit of the rainy season with varieties of Malhar; ‘VASANTOTSAV’ a celebration of Spring, ‘NADOTSAV’ annual Concert serial of Indian Classical Music and a regular forum for concerts, Lecture-cum-demonstrations and workshops, gives a vast variety of programs.” Annual Art Exhibition” of Painting, and Annual Drama Shows’ week are unique feather in the crown of our entire campus. Supportive teaching and interaction with experts to enhance the regular classroom teaching programmes for the subjects of Humanities is also provided.
One salient feature of the infrastructure of this College is its vast and well-equipped library with several wings. The reading and lending section of the library has more than 5,000 books, some of them are very old and rare, providing for valuable source material for regular as well as research oriented study. The College is also having an audio section for Music Department which has a listening facilities 2 TB of soft data listening material. Students are encouraged to listen more and more, so as to absorb the finer nuances of this great art form. The college is also having a huge Art Gallery, Open Air Theatre with appropriate Sound & Lighting facilities for Painting & Drama department respectively. Our unique Psychology Laboratory for Counselling and other academic purpose is indeed an added attractions for the students as well as local citizens of Banaskantha district and around. Apart from this, a separate Computer with e-books and e-material & Language Laboratory facilities have been set up for the benefit of the Students, teachers and research scholars. While developing the deep-rooted base for Performing Arts & Visual Arts, the main aim of the college is to encourage everyone to be acquainted with growth, development and research of these subjects worldwide.
Our students those who graduate may become freelance artists, performers, actors designers or they would be qualified from employment in Advertising Agencies, Publishing Houses, Government or Private Establishments, Studios, Films & Television, Freelance Counsellors, Professors & Teachers or Administrators of Art Programmes etc.
